Remote paralegal and legal assistant for your law firm

Discovery organized. Filings on the calendar.

Neon Link gives small and mid-size law firms one dedicated, full-time paralegal who works remotely from the Philippines or India on your US business hours, matched to your practice area: personal injury and workers comp, bankruptcy, immigration, family law, or estates and probate. They draft for attorney review, run intake, chase records, organize discovery, stage filings and keep the calendar and case file clean, all under your licensed attorney's supervision, and they never give legal advice. It costs $2,995 a month, month to month, with no setup fee.

What your Linker handles

  • Draft, format, cite check and proofread pleadings, motions, demand letters, agreements and client correspondence for attorney review
  • Run client intake and conflict checks, collect what the matter needs, and keep the file complete from day one
  • Request and follow up on medical, police, employment, income and insurance records, then index and summarize what comes back
  • Organize discovery and prepare what your practice area runs on: discovery responses and deposition summaries, USCIS forms and evidence packets, bankruptcy petitions and schedules, or estate, trust and probate documents
  • Assemble filings and stage them for the attorney to submit through PACER and CM/ECF or your state e-filing portal, then keep proof of filing and service
  • Calendar deadlines, limitation periods, hearing dates and objection windows, and remind the attorney before, not after
  • Keep case notes, status updates and billable time entries current in your case management system
  • Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, courts and third parties, and route anything that calls for legal judgment back to the attorney
  • Protect client confidentiality and privilege at every step, including how files are stored and shared
Your software

We screen for the software you run, such as Clio, MyCase, Filevine, Smokeball or PracticePanther, PACER and CM/ECF, and lane tools like Best Case or NextChapter for bankruptcy and Docketwise or INSZoom for immigration. If a finalist has not used yours, you'll know before they start.

How the work is measured

What your Linker is measured on. The targets are set with you in the first week, from your volumes and your hours, and written into your statement of work.

  • Deadlines calendared on every matter they work, measured on missed deadlines and filing deficiencies
  • Drafts come back from the attorney with edits to substance, not to formatting, citations or typos
  • Time from intake to a complete file, with records requests out early in the process
  • Time entries and case notes kept current, so you can bill without chasing them

How we vet your Linker

Our recruiting team in the Philippines runs a strict screening and review of every applicant, using a process built by our founder, Dan Betthauser, from twenty years running outsourced operations across the Philippines, Costa Rica and the United States. Every Linker goes through:

  • A screen of the application against your role: the work, the software and the experience you need
  • A recorded spoken English sample, reviewed by our team
  • A practical skills test for your work, scored in our own system
  • A live video interview with our recruiting team
  • An ID check and a background check: NBI clearance in the Philippines, police clearance in India and Pakistan
  • A workspace check before day one: a quiet, private room, wired internet, a backup connection and a plan for power outages
  • A signed confidentiality agreement before they see any of your data
  • Your own interview with the finalist: nobody starts until you say yes

How it starts

  1. Step 1Tell us the work: a 15 or 30 minute call with our team, or the sixty second scope on the homepage.
  2. Step 2Get a written quote at the published rate, held for 30 days.
  3. Step 3We recruit and screen for your work and your software, and you interview the finalist before they start.
  4. Step 4Your Linker works your queue on your hours. A Neon Link manager runs the account and answers when you need them.
  5. Step 5If the fit is wrong in the first 60 days, we swap them at no cost.

A good fit, and not a fit

  • Solo and small firms where the attorney is still doing their own drafting, formatting and records requests
  • Personal injury, immigration, family law, bankruptcy or estates practices whose docket has outgrown the staff
  • Attorneys who want one paralegal who learns their templates, their courts and their clients, not a rotating pool
Not a fit
  • Legal advice, legal judgment calls or explaining a client's options. Those stay with your licensed attorney
  • Signing or filing anything. Your Linker stages the filing, and the attorney reviews and submits it
  • On-site work: court appearances, in-person filing or serving papers

Questions owners ask

How much does it cost to outsource paralegal work?

$2,995 a month for one dedicated, full-time person (40 hours a week), month to month, or $2,895 a month on the 6-month plan. There is no setup fee, and pay, equipment and management are inside that one number. For comparison, a US paralegal costs about $7,270 a month fully loaded, using the BLS median wage plus employer costs.

What practice areas do your paralegals cover?

We hire for real depth in one practice area: personal injury or workers comp, consumer bankruptcy, immigration, family law, or estates and probate. You interview a finalist matched to yours, who already knows that kind of matter. If your practice sits outside those five, ask on the call.

Who supervises the paralegal?

Your attorney, the same way they would supervise an in-house paralegal. Your Linker drafts, organizes, calendars and stages filings, and anything that needs the attorney's judgment waits for the attorney's review. They don't give legal advice, sign filings or make legal judgment calls.

How is privileged client information protected?

Your Linker signs a confidentiality agreement, passes a background check and works from a private space where client matters can't be overheard. They're hired to protect confidentiality and privilege at every step, including how files are stored and shared. Their access is whatever you grant in your own systems.

How is this different from hiring a virtual assistant?

You get one dedicated person who handles your work on your hours, inside your software, and a Neon Link manager runs the account: pay, equipment, replacement if it comes to that, and a phone that gets answered. You never run offshore payroll or manage a freelancer alone. It is not a shared pool, a ticket queue or a 24/7 answering line.

How fast can someone start?

We start recruiting when you say go. You interview the finalist before anyone starts, and the start date is set with you once you pick the person. We would rather take the time to find the right fit than hand you whoever is free.

What if the person is not the right fit?

If the fit is wrong in the first 60 days, we swap them at no cost. After that, if they leave, we recruit the replacement at no charge and manage the handover. Training on your process runs at the normal monthly rate.

Do we have to sign a long contract?

No. Month to month is available on every plan. The 6-month plan trades a longer commitment for a lower monthly rate. A written quote at the published rate is held for 30 days.
